It’s official! The Nike Air Yeezy 2 is set for a June 9 release worldwide! When news hit the internets, kids across the globe were selling entire sneaker collections, cars, siblings, and their souls for a chance to buy the Yeezy 2. As for me? I think I’ll pass. Not necessarily because I don’t like the shoe (It takes A LOT for me to actually dislike a shoe), but just because I’m not about that hype. Maybe it’s a generation thing. Maybe my priorities changed. Maybe 10 years ago I wouldn’t mind grinding it out in the sneaker trenches for a week for a chance to buy a pair. But now, at this point in my life, I’m good. If I got a pair, I’d probably play ball in them just to see kids’ heads explode.
Lineups will be crazy, raffles will be shady, resell will be through the roof, and somewhere in the world a hypebeast will cry. I think I’ll stick with the originals. All of the classic silhouettes that inspired the designs of both Air Yeezys: the Air Jordans, the Air Revolutions, the Air Tech Challenges, etc.
